Jake’s picture is on the front page of the Gwinnett County add-on part of the AJC today.
He won a small home school spelling bee at Discover Mills yesterday. Apparently the spelling bee was part of a promotional thing put on by the mall and the Alliance Theater (part of the Woodruff Art’s Center, home of the High Museum of Art and the Atlanta Symphony). Part of his prize package was two tickets to tonight’s performance at the Alliance of “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” a Tony winning musical comedy. So tonight Jake and Alicia are going to go do that while Sam (and Grace) and I go to the Lego car derby thing and race Jake’s cars that he built for it for him.
AJC Article (the article… sign-up e-mail malarky required I think).
|Home schooling continues to crest, and Monday afternoon, 9-year-old Jake Pillsbury rode the wave.Jake, who plays the violin and loves Legos, won a spelling bee for home schooled students held at Discover Mills mall in Lawrenceville. Jake, who is from Lawrenceville, bested eight others in the 9- to 12-year-old group. He won with “kilobyte.”|
So all of July, and much of August, has gone by without an update. In that time we: visited Alicia’s family in NY for a wedding; didn’t celebrate Alicia’s birthday, had a trip to six flags over GA with the munchkins; had Sam’s 3rd Birthday Party, and got Sam potty trained. There are some more pictures up (as of last night) over at the gallery at pillsburyfamily.com
