Autism? Aspergers? Not a problem?

without comments

I’ve not finished this article yet, but it’s a fascinating one. Many of you know that Sam has some sensory integration and processing issues that point to possibly registering on the autistic spectrum (most likely in the Asperger’s Syndrome realm at “worst”), and this viewpoint of Autism being looked at, not as a disease to be cured, but a difference. This plays into my theory that it’s more a genetic adaptation to the cultural possibilities we have in the 1st world these days (i.e. that introspective nerd programmer who married the introspective nerdy biology student may have a tendency to have kids even more introspective and nerdy than they are… we’re not all “nurture” you know).
